Best Part o' My Day

November 30, 2012

Today is the last day of the "Best Part o' My Day" month-long posting project.
Reflecting on the best part of my day is something that I will continue to do for as long as I live. It's such an easy thing to do and it's a testament to prove that even the darkest, shittiest days contain a moment worth highlighting.

Once again, I got a lot of writing and editing done today, which I'm really proud of. But I gotta give it up to Jessica Patterson a second time because this simple idea may not have happened if not for her. I've enjoyed writing these daily doses of 'best' and every time I sit down to do it I think of her, like I'm doing right now.

Best Part o' My Day

November 29, 2012

I had a date with the full moon tonight.  I smoked a joint outside the barn and then proceeded to ask the questions that have been on my mind lately. I'm extremely happy with my life, but I'm not so sure that the rest of my family understands why I've chosen to continue 'vegabonding' and why I'm leaving home again in January for an uncountable amount of time.

"Why don't you ask them how they truly feel about it?" said a voice in my head.  It wasn't mine. It was my good ol' Mom's. I hadn't heard her voice in a long time. I was elated to know she was listening. I wanted more than ever before to see her standing in front of me, but I was grateful just to hear that calming voice. It warmed me up and I kept on talking to her while the moon kept on shining.

Best Part o' My Day

November 28, 2012

I received an email from Jon (Loop) Tully today. While searching for jobs out west he came upon a posting that he felt was right up my alley. And it is.

CAMERA PERSON WITH WONDERLUST...
How ballsy are you? Can you operate television quality video gear and pack around a stedicam? Could you live in a van with two very laid back and very outgoing guys for two years? Do you like to travel A LOT? Can you eat anything and sleep anywhere?

Were setting out to film a television show about how small the world is and in fact it’s so small you can drive the whole thing!
We had a friend lined up to go with all the right skills, though they were not fully committed , so it just wouldn’t work. There is a possibility of doing 3-4 months at a time then returning home for a few weeks.
We're two guys 31 & 33, both having traveled a lot. Both having lived and traveled in a van extensively before.
Basically we're looking for someone to film the entire trip for television. You’ll need to be able to operate camera gear and have a great eye for the shots in a variety of situations & be super exited about experiencing this once in a lifetime adventure. There’s zero budget for this at the moment and were not a production company so there’s about a 99% chance you’re not going to get paid a dime for this until it’s sold. The best we might offer at the moment is you’ll get to see the world from a very interactive prospective and it might not cost you more then your skills.
We plan to depart spring 2013.
Email me if you have some serious questions.
   This will change your life…

Best Part o' My Day

November 27, 2012

I met up with a dear friend and fellow traveler, Andrew Parr tonight. He called me over to his family's new house where we had a cooking party with Mama Parr. Together we made crispy planko avocado and beet root wedges. Afterwards Parr and I lounged and did what we do best when we hang out; We got deep into talking about living life, loving women, and traveling. Our conversations always seem to get so esoteric that we both feel high. It was definitely a much needed talk for me, to voice my thoughts on being back home and my ideas and intentions for the new year approaching.
I look forward to the day when Parr and I will have these talks in a whole other country.
